Your agent, files and connected accounts stay on your computer. The phone reaches it while that computer is awake and online.
Start or stop agents, manage add-ons and change routine times.
None of these is sent to the phone: your passwords and keys, your knowledge files, or the rows inside a collection.
Each message is sealed before it leaves. A code you scan gives your phone the key.
The key never passes through us. We hold the sealed messages and cannot open them.
| What that company publishes | Can that company read it | |
|---|---|---|
| Telegram | An ordinary chat, the kind an agent uses, is stored “encrypted in the Telegram Cloud” and isn’t end to end. Telegram’s end-to-end Secret Chats are between two people, and an agent can’t use oneSource 1 | Yes |
| Discord | Every voice and video call is end-to-end encrypted. Text is not, in Discord’s own words: “We have no current plans to extend E2EE to text messages”Source 2 | Yes |
| Slack | “In Slack, customer data is encrypted at rest and in transit by default.” Archie joins as an ordinary bot, so your agent’s messages sit in that workspace like every other message in itSource 3 | Yes |
| Matrix | A Matrix room can be end-to-end encrypted. Archie cannot read one that is, so our connect guide asks for a room with encryption off. That limitation is ours rather than Matrix’sSource 4 | Yes |
| iMessage on a Mac | Apple encrypts it end to end and says “no one else can access your end-to-end encrypted data, not even Apple”. Archie reads it out of the Messages app on your own computer rather than over the networkSource 5 | No |
| The Archie phone app | Sealed on your computer before it leaves, under a key it gives your phone by camera. We hold the sealed messages and have no keySource 6 | No, and neither can we |
“Secret chats use end-to-end encryption” while “Cloud Chats use client-server/server-client encryption and are stored encrypted in the Telegram Cloud”.
Also: “several court orders from different jurisdictions are required to force us to give up any data”. From the Telegram FAQ, read on September 11, 2026.
Discord’s DAVE protocol covers “every voice and video call on Discord, whether in DMs, group DMs, voice channels, or Go Live streams”.
On text: “We have no current plans to extend E2EE to text messages.” From Discord’s own announcement, read on September 11, 2026.
“In Slack, customer data is encrypted at rest and in transit by default.” From Slack’s security page, read on September 11, 2026.
Archie can’t read an encrypted room, so the connect guide asks for one with encryption off. Matrix supports end-to-end encryption well, and the shortfall is ours.
“No one else can access your end-to-end encrypted data, not even Apple.” From Apple’s iCloud data security overview, read on September 11, 2026.
Apple’s caveat on the same page: Messages in iCloud is end-to-end encrypted when iCloud Backup is off. If yours is on, check how Apple describes that before relying on it.
The sealed mailbox already carries phone access. What we hold and cannot open is on the Trust page.
Messages are sealed with AES-256-GCM, an ordinary published cipher we did not invent, and the key travels in the part of a web address browsers never send to a server.
You can run both yourself: seal a message of your own and try to open it without the key.
This page doesn’t claim Telegram, Discord or Slack read your messages. It quotes what each publishes, with links so you can check us.
It doesn’t call a chat app unsafe either: your agent works there today, and we built those connections on purpose.
Permissions are asked for when you use each feature.
Scan the pairing code or take a photo for your agent. The camera is off otherwise.
The app receives only the photo you choose; it cannot read the rest of your library.
Record a voice note with the talk button. You can discard it, and recording stops if you leave the app.
A photo or a voice note goes to the computer running Archie, sealed, and we cannot read it.
Then pair your phone by scanning the code Archie shows. There is no account or password on the phone.
What we hold and cannot open is on the Trust page. See how setting Archie up works →
