Is $25 enough? Measured against real use: light use fits, moderate use fits only at the low end, and heavy use exceeds $25.
About 16 jobs a day. That fits the free tier.
The free tier stops email and routines at 15 jobs a day and everything at 20, then starts again at midnight. The $30 plan has no daily limit, runs up to 10 agents and adds Archie Mobile.
When an Archie plan ends, existing agents keep working at 20 jobs a day on your own AI account. Archie for Teams needs a plan; Archie Mobile needs a plan or live trial.
Neither needs a card. Both are for the one-person plans.
Our server writes down what each request cost and never what it said, we keep no copy, and we use none of it for anything. Connect an AI account of your own and that stops from each agent’s next start.
Eligible accounts get $2 of AI usage for 14 days or until spent. Email and text reading are off. Switching to your own AI account does not restart the clock.

One agent, per month, at Anthropic’s October 7, 2026 rates. We take no cut.
under $1
a month at Economy, or $2 to $5 at Balanced
$20 to $41
a month at Economy, or $22 to $41 at Balanced
$60 to $127
a month at Economy, or $69 to $139 at Balanced
An estimate. Besides message count, two things move it: sending in sittings or spread across the day, and the quality setting.
Where the bill goes:
Watching one inbox of about 30 emails a day costs $0.10 to $0.15 a month at Economy, or $3.73 to $6.43 at Balanced with draft replies on.
Connections add cost: each is described on every reply, so the same question costs about 2.8 times as much on a fully connected agent as on a bare one.
You can set one monthly limit on what your agents spend on thinking, all of them together. When the month reaches it, routines and reading new mail and texts pause until the first. Your agent still answers when you ask, and reminders still go off. The figure is an estimate, and the exact one is on your AI company’s own billing page.
| How hard you work it | What it’s connected to | Messages sent a day | Emails a day | Per month at Economy | Per month at Balanced |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Light | A calendar and a folder of documents | about 6 | none | under $1 | $2 to $5 |
| Moderate | Calendar, email, a to-do list, and its own lists of people and projects | about 25 | about 80 | $20 to $41 | $22 to $41 |
| Heavy | All of those, plus about as many connections again | about 70 | about 200 | $60 to $127 | $69 to $139 |
Measured over a 30-day month. The top of each range assumes every reply starts from nothing, so a real month should land inside it.
The moderate row is one agent measured twice. Its add-ons pick Balanced themselves, so the dial moved only the inbox watch, and the Economy run pulled a bigger inbox, so the two top ends meet.
Best, the third quality setting, costs more and was not measured. A shared Archie for Teams agent answers a whole team on one bill.
| Emails reaching your agent | At Economy | At Balanced | At Balanced, writing drafts |
|---|---|---|---|
| 30 a day | $0.10 to $0.15 | $1.39 to $2.20 | $3.73 to $6.43 |
| 80 a day | $0.25 to $0.39 | $3.70 to $5.86 | $9.94 to $17.14 |
| 200 a day | $0.61 to $0.96 | $9.24 to $14.64 | $24.84 to $42.84 |
Already inside the totals above.
Draft replies roughly triple it: a reply is a few hundred words of output, and output bills at 5x reading. The switch is on the Email panel.
An add-on can pick its own quality and ignore the dial, and most capable ones do. So the dial takes the light row from $2 to $5 down to under $1, and the heavy row down by about a tenth.
The checkbox under the dial, “Use this for every skill”, overrides the add-ons: on sixteen test agents in October 2026, it took about nine tenths off what a reply costs.
The figures. Five test runs in August 2026: four agent shapes, both quality settings, eight scripted turns each, on a real Anthropic key, calendar and inbox, with every call’s bill read back. In October 2026, sixteen test agents measured the models each setting runs now: Balanced came out the same per reply, and the Economy column is scaled to what its model measured.
The prices. Anthropic’s own price sheet, read on October 7, 2026.
The arithmetic. One equation, kept with the Archie code. In September 2026 it matched every billed request to the cent on two of our own agents: 346 calls over two weeks on Claude, and 770 over three weeks on another company’s models.
How much the model thinks before answering, billed at 5x reading: 6% to 9% of a message that starts a conversation, 39% to 50% of one sent mid-conversation.
How you space your messages, the biggest factor. A message right after the last costs about a sixth of one sent hours later, on every agent we measured, but a quarter of quick follow-ups on one agent paid full price. Plan on the upper end.
Messages a day, how often routines run, and how much mail arrives. Mail is the widest: 30, 80 and 200 a day bracket what one real inbox did over two days.
We keep working on what a reply costs, and we do not publish how. Nobody here earns anything from this bill, and you should not pay more for a reply than it has to cost.
A change reaches these figures only after it has been measured.
One reply from a fully loaded agent is $0.01 right after another and up to $0.11 from nothing, at Balanced. Handing work to a specialist or using the Deep setting costs more.
Rented agents bill $0.04 to $0.10 an actionSource 1Source 2 or $2 a conversationSource 2, from their own price lists. An action is a different size of work from a reply. See them side by side →
