2.3 Connecting Your Email and Calendar
Read by Jack. Pressing play on a video in the library loads YouTube’s player, and YouTube counts that play. How to connect a Google, Outlook or iCloud account in four steps, and how to take that access back.
Which accounts connect, and what Google shows first
- Google and Outlook (Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live and Office 365) open their own sign-in page in your browser.
- iCloud, Fastmail, Yahoo, AOL, Zoho Mail and GMX connect with an app password you make on that service’s website. A calendar connects when Archie finds one as you connect. AOL and GMX have none.
- Until Google verifies Archie, connecting a Google account first shows a screen saying Google hasn’t verified this app. It names Otian AI, the company that makes Archie.
- To go on, press Advanced, then the link to Otian AI, which Google marks unsafe until it has verified the app.
- Email needs an AI account of your own. The free starter credits and the plan with the AI included will not run it.
- Where to take access back at Google, Microsoft and Apple: 0.7.

Let's connect your email and calendar.
First, an important limit: your agent can read email only when you use your own AI account.
Email is off when you use our free credits or a plan with AI included. With those options, the emails other people sent you would pass through our server. They did not agree to that.
Step one. Open your agent in Archie. Go to Connections. Under Email, calendar, files, select Connect an account.
Step two. Choose your service, such as Google, Outlook, or iCloud. Before you press Google or Outlook, open Choose exactly what it may do. Find Let it send replies. This switch starts on.
Turn it off to let your agent write drafts for you to send yourself. Even when it is on, a reply waits until you send it or choose a time to send it.
Step three. For Google or Outlook, the company's sign-in page opens in your browser. It may name Otian AI, the company that makes Archie. Read the list of permissions before you agree. It tells you what Archie will be allowed to access. If a warning shows first, the list below this video says what to do.
For iCloud and some other services, create an app password on that service's website. Then paste it into Archie.
Step four. Return to Archie. Your account appears in the list. For most services, the calendar connects along with the account.
To remove an account later, select Remove, shown as a trash can beside the account.
You can also remove permission in your Google or Microsoft account settings.
