0.7 What It Means to Connect an Account
Read by Jack. Pressing play on a video in the library loads YouTube’s player, and YouTube counts that play. What you agree to when you connect your email, how to take that access back, and why connecting sends nothing.
What Google shows first, and where to take access back
- Until Google verifies Archie, connecting a Google account first shows a screen saying Google hasn’t verified this app. It names Otian AI, the company that makes Archie.
- To go on, press Advanced, then the link to Otian AI, which Google marks unsafe until it has verified the app.
- Google: myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Microsoft: account.microsoft.com, under the apps you have given access.
- Apple: an app-specific password is cancelled at account.apple.com, under Sign-In and Security.

What am I agreeing to when I connect my email?
For a Google or Microsoft account, the company's own sign-in page opens. It asks what you will allow Archie to access, such as your email or calendar.
Think of this as giving Archie a key card. The card opens certain doors. It does not give Archie your Google or Microsoft password.
Read the list before you agree. You can say no, and nothing changes.
You can also remove access later in your Google or Microsoft account settings. You can do this even after removing Archie from your computer.
Some services, such as iCloud, work differently. You make a separate app password on that service's website and paste it into Archie. You can cancel that password there later.
Connecting your email does not mean Archie starts sending replies. There is a separate switch for that.
Even with the switch on, a reply waits until you send it or choose a time for it to be sent.
