What is the difference between downloading and installing?

An app is a tool you use on your computer, such as a calculator or a web browser.

Downloading saves the app's setup file to your computer. It usually goes into a folder called Downloads. Think of it as a package arriving at your door.

Installing gets the app ready to use. Open the file you downloaded and follow the steps on the screen. This is like unpacking the package.

When you finish, you can open the app from its icon.

Get apps from the company's own website or an official app store. Type the website address into your browser yourself.

Skip download links sent by strangers or shown in ads.
