1.8 Why Your ChatGPT Plan Does Not Cover Archie
Read by Jack. Pressing play on a video in the library loads YouTube’s player, and YouTube counts that play. Why a ChatGPT or Claude subscription cannot run Archie, and the three ways to give your agent its AI.
Your three choices, and what each costs
- Free credits: no card needed. They last 14 days or until they are spent, whichever comes first.
- An AI account of your own, with no plan: Archie is free for 20 jobs a day. A job is one piece of work: a reply to you, a routine running, or an email it reacts to.
- A plan: $30 a month or $299 a year.
- A plan with the AI included: $59 a month or $599 a year, with $25 of Claude use each month.
- That $25 refills each paid month and nothing carries over. When it is used up, your agent pauses until the next month, or until you connect an AI account of your own.
- Email features and the text watch need an AI account of your own. The free starter credits and the plan with the AI included will not run them.

I already pay for ChatGPT. Can Archie use that plan?
No. Archie cannot use a ChatGPT or Claude subscription.
Archie needs a different way to use the company's AI. This is called a pay-as-you-go account. You may also see it called a developer account or an API account.
It has its own setup and its own bill. Your chat subscription does not cover it.
You have three main choices for using AI with Archie.
You can try our free credits. You do not need a payment card.
You can connect your own pay-as-you-go AI account. With your own account, Archie is free, with a daily limit on jobs. A job is one task your agent runs. The current limit is below this video.
Or you can choose a plan with some AI use included each month. When that runs out, your agent pauses until the next month. Some jobs, like reading your email, need your own AI account. The list below this video says which.
Next: how to open your own AI account.
