Features
Every Archie feature, by area
143 features in 18 areas. Each one opens to where it is in Archie, how to use it, and its limits.
Talking to your agent
- Stop a reply partway
Type stop, or press Stop under the reply, while your agent is working; what it already finished stays done and nothing more happens.
- Tables and checklists in replies
In Archie, your agent can answer with a table or a checklist when that is the clearer shape, and links and code show properly.
- New chat
Press New chat and your agent starts fresh. It forgets the conversation and keeps what it has learned about you.
- Question cards keep their buttons
The cards where your agent offers choices keep working for two weeks, even after Archie restarts, so a card from Friday still answers on Monday.
- What your agent saved and looked at
Under a reply, Archie says what your agent saved to your lists, with Open and Undo, and what it read to answer.
- Ask your agent ordinary questions
Your agent answers ordinary questions the way any AI chat does, such as how to word a hard email, in the same conversation as everything else it does.
- Your agent looks back through your conversation
Your agent keeps the last twenty messages in front of it. Ask about something from further back and it searches your conversation for it.
- Search this chat
Type a word or a name and Archie shows every message in your chat with an agent that has all of them, newest first. Press one to go to it.
- Charts in the conversation
Ask for a chart and your agent draws it in the conversation as bars, a line or a pie, with the numbers on it.
- The Today line over the message box
One line over the message box says what changed and what went out today, like "Today: 4 changes, 1 sent". Press it for the list, each change with Open and Undo.
- Not now, answered at once
Press Not now, No thanks, Skip or Cancel under something your agent offered, and Archie answers "Okay, left it." right away, without asking the AI, and drops what the card offered.
- Your presses, shown as presses
A button you press shows on your side of the chat as that button, pressed, over the first words of the card it answered. Confirm says the change it confirms, and a press never changes your agent's words.
- Replies in your lists' own words
Your agent names a change by the column's name on your list, like For. It says what it did, like "I looked it up online", and leaves out Archie's own words, such as skill and specialist. Who's Got This keeps its list as Who has what.
- Unasked messages wait for the answer
Messages your agent sends without being asked, like the morning list, a card about new mail or a routine's report, wait until it has finished answering you.
- Unasked messages say so
When your agent sends something without being asked, a line over it says so and what it is, like "Sent on its own at 6:30 AM: your morning list."
- Links Archie never read are cut back
If a reply holds a web link to a site Archie never read or found in a search, the link is cut back to the site's front page.
- /pending moves waiting cards down
Type /pending and everything still waiting on you is posted again at the bottom of the chat. The earlier copy says the newest card replaced it, and its buttons go.
Voice
- Say a message instead of typing
Press the microphone beside the message box to speak a message; Archie turns it into words on your computer, and only the words go to your AI company.
Your phone
- Archie Mobile
Archie Mobile, for iPhone and Android, reaches the agent on your computer, which locks every message with a key that only your phone also holds.
- Your agent on iMessage, with its own Apple ID
On a Mac, your agent answers in iMessage in the chat you have with yourself, with its name on its replies, or on an Apple ID of its own.
- Notifications on Archie Mobile
Turn on notifications in Archie Mobile and your phone shows reminders, reports, new mail, and replies to what you sent from it, even with the app closed.
- A phone message waits for a sleeping computer
A message sent from Archie Mobile while your computer sleeps waits and says so, and your agent answers it when the computer wakes, knowing it was sent earlier.
- Run a routine or tune a skill from your phone
From Archie Mobile you can run a routine now, pick a skill's Response quality, and switch a skill's scheduled messages off and on.
- Short answers on your phone
Text your agent from your phone and it answers in the first line and keeps the reply short, with no headings.
- Keep for every draft
When you type your brokerage, phone number, or business name into a blank on an email draft, the card offers Keep for every draft.
- Stop watching your inbox
When your agent starts reading your mail, it says in the chat which inboxes it reads and how often, with a Stop watching button.
- Mail from people you write to comes first
Mail from someone you wrote to in the last two weeks is read at once; other mail can wait a few minutes, which lowers what your AI account is charged.
- Blanks in a draft
Your agent leaves a blank in square brackets, like [her school], for a detail nobody gave, and an email or text with a blank in it will not send.
- Check before sending
On an email your agent drafts in chat, a price, a day, or a time that nobody gave it is listed under the draft for you to check.
- First text to a lead
Ask your agent to text a lead, and it writes the text, says whether they agreed to texts, and puts a button under it so you can send it yourself.
- A sent draft says it went
Your agent's own words are never changed. When you press Send on an email it drafted, Archie says it went under the message that came with the draft: "Sent to Ace Septic at 8:01am."
Calendar
- Ask what's on, what's due, or what's free
Ask about some days and Archie hands your agent what your lists, your calendar, and your reminders hold for those days before it answers.
- Dates from your lists on the Calendar
The Calendar tab shows the dates on your lists beside your calendar events, reminders, and routines, so a booking kept on a list shows on its day.
- A stop moved onto a busy day
Move a stop to a day its truck or driver is on your calendar for something else, or a day that job already has a stop. Your agent tells you what is there and asks before moving it.
- Where Bookings and your calendar differ
On an event trailer agent, the morning list compares your Bookings list with your calendar for today and the next two weeks, and says where one has a booking the other does not. Ask what is on a day and your agent says the same.
Lists and to-dos
- Your to-do list on the Dashboard
Your to-do list is the first thing on your agent's Dashboard, where you can tick something off or add one without asking your agent.
- Stages on a list
A list can show its steps, like Quoted, Booked, Out and Picked up, with each entry's step in color and a count at each step.
- Lists in the sidebar and on the Dashboard
Keep up to six lists in your agent's sidebar, under Jobs, and each one shows on the Dashboard with its count and where its entries stand.
- Lists made from what you tell your agent
When you first set up your agent and say what work you do, it drafts up to three lists that work runs on, with their steps.
- Where you keep your work
The last of your agent's first questions is where you keep your work today, with a button for each place, and its goodbye offers a way to bring in each of the first two.
- Bring in a spreadsheet someone emailed
Say "bring in the spreadsheet Dana emailed", and your agent finds the email, opens the file, and puts its rows on a card for you to add.
- Who owes you money
Ask who owes you money, and your agent answers from entries on your lists marked billed and not paid, oldest first, with the days each has waited.
- Fixing a save your agent claimed but never made
If a reply says it put something on your lists and nothing was saved, Archie adds a line saying so, with Save it to save it now.
- A new list takes its first entries
Ask for a new list and say what goes on it in the same message, and your agent makes the list and adds those entries in one reply.
- Who to call
Ask your agent who to call, and Archie works it out from your People and Deals lists: birthdays, closing anniversaries, quiet leads, and past clients.
- Maybe already on a list
When your agent adds someone, Archie looks on your lists for the same phone number, email, or name, and your agent says who it may be.
- Hear when a booking puts something in two places
When a booking puts a trailer or a unit in two places on the same day, Archie saves it as asked and says which booking it runs into.
- Bring a spreadsheet into a list
Import a spreadsheet into one of your lists. Archie matches the columns, leaves out rows already there, and names every cell it could not read.
- Drop a spreadsheet in the chat
Drop a spreadsheet into the chat and Archie puts up a card that names the list it fits and how many rows would come in.
- Check new entries on one card before Add
Hand your agent a photo, a page, or your calendar, and every entry it finds for one of your lists goes on one card you check before anything is added.
- Bring a shared Google Sheet into a list
Ask your agent to bring a Google Sheet you shared with it into one of your lists. The rows come in on a card you check first.
- How far along a list is
Tell Archie about how many a list will hold, and it shows how many are entered so far, such as 25 of about 300 units entered.
- Fold a row listed twice into one
When a unit number or another value meant to be on a list once shows up twice, the list says so, and Review keeps the row you pick.
- Ask about a unit by number
Ask about unit 31 and your agent finds the row titled S-31, matching names like Trailer 4 or INV-1042 by their letters and numbers.
- Keep a list matched to its spreadsheet
Keep your own spreadsheet, and the list you brought in from it stays matched: Archie changes the list when you save the file, never changes your file, and asks before taking an entry off.
- A late pickup, asked about once a day
Archie asks you about a late pickup for a rental at most once a day in the same chat, unless you bring that rental up.
- Matching entries, added up in code
When Archie looks up entries on one of your lists and two or more match, code adds up the number columns, like units and price. Your agent gets the totals, so it does not add them itself.
- Units out, counted place by place
When Archie looks up the units you have out, code counts them place by place against the rentals running there today. Your agent hears where your two lists agree, where they differ, and by how many.
Routines and reminders
- Reminders on the to-do list
A reminder you ask for also goes on your to-do list; tick it off and the reminder is not said, and deleting it in one place removes both.
- Remind me later
When a reminder goes off, Remind me later offers in an hour, this evening or tomorrow, each with its time on the button, or another time in your words.
- Your agent works while you are away
Your agent runs routines, reads new mail, and reports to you with nobody watching, for as many hours as your computer is on and Archie is open.
- Morning list
For a line of work Archie has a setup for, your agent can send what is on today each morning, built from your lists without asking an AI.
- Waking the computer for a routine
A routine set for seven in the morning arrives at seven, even if your computer was asleep. Archie wakes it a few minutes before, runs it, and lets it sleep.
- Missed routines run when the computer wakes
A routine due while your computer was asleep runs when it wakes, as long as that is the same morning, afternoon, or evening. Past that, its row says it missed.
- One routine at several times a day
A routine can run at several set times a day, up to 24, like 9:00 in the morning and 5:00 in the afternoon.
- Reminders
Tell your agent to remind you at a time, and it does, in your own words, at that minute, without asking an AI anything to read it back.
- A reminder that stands down when the person writes back
Make a reminder conditional, like "remind me Thursday to chase the quote unless Ellen has replied". If Ellen emails or texts in first, it is dropped and Archie tells you.
- Alerts on your computer
When your agent posts on its own, like a reminder or a routine's report, your computer shows an alert with the agent's name and the first line.
- Today's Calendar skips an empty day
On a morning with nothing on your calendar, the store's Today's Calendar routine sends nothing and uses none of your AI. Press Run now and it still answers.
Memory and knowledge
- Knowledge as folders
The Knowledge tab opens like folders: Documents your agent reads, Lists it keeps up to date, Memory, and How you write.
- Your agent's first questions
When you first open Archie, your agent asks a few questions about your work, starting with the first thing you say, so it can help you better.
- What your agent keeps
At the top of an agent's Knowledge tab, Archie counts its lists, documents, and things it remembers about you, and shows the latest list changes with Undo.
- What your agent remembers about you
Your agent keeps a short list of what it has learned about you. You can read every line, add one, change one, or delete one.
- Bring in what ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini knows about you
Archie gives you one sentence to send ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. Paste its answer back, tick the lines to keep, and your agent remembers them.
- Your small files, checked for what you ask
When you ask about something, Archie looks through your small files, like a price sheet or a page of notes, for lines that mention it, and hands them to your agent before it answers. No extra AI call is made.
Files and pictures
- Send files to your agent, and get files back
Send your agent photos, a video, a recording or a document in Archie, and it sends files it made back the same way.
- Your whole agent in one backup file
Everything you built goes in one file you save where you like, with no key or token in it. Archie can save one every week.
- Your agent saves real files
Your agent writes the actual file, such as a PDF, a Word file, a spreadsheet or a deck, and tells you where it put it.
- PDF reports with charts
Ask for a PDF and your agent lays it out on your computer, with headings, bullets, page breaks, and real bar, line or pie charts drawn in.
- PowerPoint decks you can change
Ask for a deck and you get a real PowerPoint file you can open and change, with each heading starting a slide.
- Change a spreadsheet, Word file or deck you give it
Give your agent a spreadsheet, Word file, deck or text file and ask for a change. Once you confirm, it sends back a changed copy in the same style.
- Your agent makes pictures
Your agent can make a picture and send it to you in the conversation, drawn with OpenAI or Google on your own account.
Websites and apps
- Your agent uses websites
With no direct connection, your agent can use a website itself in a browser window on your computer: it reads, clicks and types, and you can watch.
- Practice runs on a website
Send your agent to look around a site before it does anything real there. It clicks through, finishes nothing, and notes how the site is laid out for next time.
- Flight check-in
Your agent finds the flight in your confirmation email, checks in on the airline's site the day before, takes a free seat, and sends you the boarding pass.
- Your agent uses apps on a Mac
On a Mac, your agent can use the apps you allow, such as Numbers or Preview, without moving your pointer. If you start using that app, it waits for you.
- Finding places on the map
Ask for somewhere to eat near the office open at eight, and your agent looks it up on the map: name, street, distance, phone number and hours.
- Prices at Shopify stores
Ask Price Watch to check your prices, and your agent looks up what Shopify stores charge right now, whether it is in stock, and a link to that store's checkout.
Skills and the store
- Your agent takes on the jobs you pick
Each agent carries only the add-ons you put on it, so it fits the way you work and a reply costs less than carrying every one.
- Every add-on is included
Every skill, routine, specialist and personality in the store comes with Archie, with no price of its own.
- Written setups for four lines of work
Tell Archie you rent portable restrooms or event restroom trailers, run a home trades company, or sell homes, and it starts with that work's lists and a few rules.
- A written setup for lead generation
Tell Archie your business sells leads, calls or booked appointments, and it starts with Clients, Sources and Orders lists and rules about consent and promises to clients.
- Job Hunt shows where the people you know work
Drop in the connections file LinkedIn emails you and Job Hunt shows where the people you know work now, then drafts a note to the right one.
- Add-ons bring no code
An add-on is a text file your agent reads: written instructions plus settings. It brings no code of its own, and nothing in it runs as a program.
- Ask whether your agent can do something
Ask your agent whether it can do something, and it searches the Marketplace's add-ons for one that fits, or offers to write a new skill when none does.
- Write a skill by describing it
Say what you wish your agent could do, in your own words. It asks a couple of questions, writes the skill, and shows you a card to keep it.
- Connect a service that is not listed
Connect a service Archie does not list, using the web address of its API and your key, then write a skill that tells your agent which addresses to call.
- College
Add each class's syllabus and your agent tracks the term: what is due this week, what you need on the final, and the school's own deadlines two weeks ahead.
Connections
- What the first run says before connecting
On the first run, before you connect a calendar or count your inbox, your agent says what it will read, where that goes, and how to disconnect it later.
- Connect button under a reply
When your agent says your calendar, your email, or an app is not connected, a button under its reply opens the Connections tab with the sign-in ready.
- Connect an app's address for AI assistants
Some apps hand out an address for AI assistants. Add it under Something else, and the tools that app offers join your agent's tools without an Archie update.
- What you can connect
Google, Microsoft, Telegram, Discord, Slack, Matrix, Todoist, Fireflies, GoHighLevel, and any service you connect with your own key are reached directly from your computer.
- Lights on your wifi
Add Philips Hue, WiZ or LIFX lights from your own wifi, and your agent switches them over that wifi. The request never leaves your network.
- iCloud and other email
Connect iCloud, Fastmail, Yahoo, AOL, Zoho or GMX mail with an app password you make on the provider's own site, plus its calendar where it has one.
Your AI account and cost
- Choose your AI company
Your agent thinks with an AI account you connect: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Groq, xAI, DeepSeek, or Mistral, or another service that works like OpenAI's.
- Ask your agent to switch AI company
Ask your agent to use a different AI company, such as "use ChatGPT instead", and it switches, or says where to paste a key if you have none saved.
- A model on your own computer
Archie can run your agent on a model on your computer through Ollama, LM Studio or llama.cpp, after checking that the model can use a tool.
- The spend meter
Archie keeps its own estimate of what your agents' AI use has cost, this month and all time, by agent and by AI company.
- Response quality, and Use this for every skill
Pick Economy, Balanced or Best for your agent's replies, and tick Use this for every skill so its add-ons use that setting too.
- Choose the models yourself
Pick your own model for any of Economy, Balanced and Best from your AI company's list, and it runs in replies, skills and anything on a schedule.
- Another provider
Connect any AI service that works like OpenAI's, such as Venice, by pasting its address, a model name and a key.
- When the AI runs out
When the free credits or your plan's AI for the month run out, your agent says so once, with the ways to keep going, and keeps what you send.
- Try again
If the AI company has a passing problem, Archie asks it once more. If that fails too, the reply says whether anything was saved or sent, with Try again.
Staying in control
- Choose what your agent can do
Switches decide what your agent offers, such as setting reminders or reading the web; turn one off and each message costs a little less.
- What your agent will never do
Your agent is awake only when you write, a routine's time comes, or it checks a mailbox you connected. It cannot run a command or text anyone.
- The crisis floor
If you tell your agent you are thinking about hurting yourself, or someone is putting you in danger, it steps out of character and names where to get help.
Privacy and security
- Where your conversations go
On your own AI account, what you write goes straight from your computer to that AI company, and Otian is not in the middle and keeps no copy.
- No analytics, and crash reports you can turn off
Archie has no analytics service, and its version check-in and its crash and error reports carry your account ID but never anything you wrote, received, or asked for.
- The update check
Archie checks for updates with a plain request that carries no version number, nothing identifying your computer, and no account.
- Where your keys are kept
The keys you save for AI companies and services are kept in your computer's built-in password store, where we have no way to read them.
- The access record
Archie writes down each time a saved key is used and each change to who or what can reach your agents, and shows if any line was changed.
- No list of the add-ons you install
Adding an add-on raises its public popularity count by one, and we keep only the running total, never a list of which add-ons are yours.
- What Archie Mobile asks for on your phone
Archie Mobile uses the camera, your photos, your files and the microphone only when you press to scan, pick, take or record something.
- Reset Archie
Reset Archie erases your agents and your saved keys from your computer, disconnects every phone, and empties the phone mailbox.
- How long the phone mailbox keeps things
Messages between Archie Mobile and your computer wait in a mailbox on Otian's server. The phone deletes each once read, and your computer clears leftovers a day later.
- What listens on your computer
Nothing on the network can reach Archie. Only three things listen, on your computer and only while in use: a sign-in, the Google Drive picker, and the Computer control browser.
Plans
- The plan with the AI included
For $59 a month or $599 a year, Archie comes with $25 of Claude usage each month, so you need no AI account of your own.
- A 14-day trial on your own AI account
When a computer has used its free credits, you can still try Archie for 14 days by connecting an AI account of your own.
- What Archie costs, on screen
During a free trial, a strip at the bottom of the window says what Archie costs afterward, and the Account page's Your plan row says the same.
- Ask what Archie costs
Ask your agent what Archie costs or the cheapest way to keep going, and Archie answers from its own price list without asking the AI.
- Add your AI account after buying a plan
Buy a plan without the AI in it, and Archie asks for your AI account next, so your first agent starts as soon as it is made.
- Free on your own AI account, 20 jobs a day
Paste a key from an AI company and Archie opens for free, with every skill and routine, up to 20 jobs a day. A plan takes the limit off.
- Your plan follows your Otian account
A plan lives on your Otian account, so signing in on another computer gets the same plan.
- What happens when a plan ends
A plan you stop runs to the end of the period you paid for. Nothing on your computer is deleted, and what opens next depends on your edition and key.
Archie for Teams
- Move your agents into Archie for Teams
When you hire, save a backup in Archie and open it in Archie for Teams, and your agents arrive with their knowledge, lists, routines and memory.
- Team Starter pack
A new Archie for Teams agent starts with Team Starter: a shared to-do list, a record of who took which job, web lookups, and a personality naming who it answers.
- What a teammate saved, told to you
When someone on your team tells your agent something that adds to or changes one of your lists, you get a message saying what they saved. Under their reply, they see that you are told.
Archie on your computer
- Right-click an agent
Right-click an agent in Archie to open it, start or stop it, rename it, change how it looks, or delete it.
- Keeps running with the window closed
Close Archie's window and your agent keeps working. Archie stays running in the Dock on a Mac, or by the clock on Windows, until you quit it.
- Opens at login
Archie opens by itself, with no window, when you sign in to your computer, so your agent is answering again after a restart.
- Open Archie with a few keys
By default, press Control, Shift and Space on a Mac, or Ctrl, Alt and Space on Windows, and Archie comes forward on your last chat, ready to type.
- Archie in the Mac menu bar
On a Mac, Archie has an icon in the menu bar at the top of the screen that opens it or quits it.
- When Archie is slow to open
If Archie takes longer than usual to open, it says so. After a minute it offers Try again and Get help, and Get help starts an email to us with what it saw.
