Updating Archie

Where the update button is, and what an update does to your agents.

This guide is also in Archie: press Resources in the sidebar, then Guides. Where a step says this computer, it means the computer running Archie.

On this page

The update card#

When an update is ready, a card at the top of the window says so, like “Archie v0.1.6 is ready”. Press Later, or Update & restart: it takes about a minute, and your agents, keys, add-ons, and conversations stay as they were.

Checking for updates yourself#

  • Click the gear at the bottom of the left sidebar. That is Settings.
  • In the list on the left, under “The app”, click Updates.
  • The heading of the card is your version, like “Archie v0.1.5”; under it is “Up to date.” or a ready version.
  • The button says Check now, or Update & restart when one is waiting.

Your version also shows beside Updates; tell that to anyone helping you.

How often Archie checks#

Archie checks when it opens, hourly after that, and when you come back to its window, if this computer is connected to the internet. Otherwise the card shows only your version.

If the update does not work#

  • Check that this computer is connected to the internet, then press Check now again.
  • If Update & restart does nothing, quit Archie completely, open it again, and try once more.
  • Still stuck? Download a fresh copy from otianai.com and install it over the top. Your agents and settings are kept separately, so nothing is lost.

A step that no longer matches your screen? The other company may have changed its site since we last checked. Tell us which step and we will fix the guide in Archie and here.
