Archie Mobile#
Archie Mobile, for iPhone and Android, reaches the agent on your computer, which locks every message with a key that only your phone also holds.
- Where it is
- On an agent's Setup tab, under Chat app, the Archie Mobile row has the link to get it and the code that connects it.
- How to use it
- Install Archie Mobile from the App Store on iPhone, or from the Android download.
- In Archie, open an agent's Setup tab and choose Chat app.
- On the Archie Mobile row, press Show the code.
- In Archie Mobile, press Scan and point the camera at the code.
- From your phone
- On iPhone from the App Store, and on Android as a download from a file rather than a store; the Android version is older, so newer features reach iPhone first.
- Limits
- Your agent runs on your computer, so it has to be on, awake and running Archie for the phone to reach it.
- It does most of what you do at the computer. Signing in to an account still happens at the computer.
- We hold the locked messages and cannot read them. We can see when one was left, which Archie version wrote it, and whether a command is done.
- Whoever holds the phone holds the key. Disconnect every phone, under the code in Archie, cuts a lost phone off.
Your agent on iMessage, with its own Apple ID#
On a Mac, your agent answers in iMessage in the chat you have with yourself, with its name on its replies, or on an Apple ID of its own.
- Where it is
- On the agent's Setup tab, under Chat app, iMessage, in Which Apple ID Messages uses for your agent.
- How to use it
- Make an Apple ID for your agent and sign a spare Mac's Messages into it.
- In Archie on that Mac, open the agent's Setup tab and choose Chat app, then iMessage.
- Under Which Apple ID Messages uses for your agent, pick the agent's own.
- Type the phone number or Apple ID email you will text it from.
- From your phone
- You text it from your iPhone's Messages like any other contact.
- Limits
- The second way takes that Mac's Messages off your own Apple ID, so use a spare Mac.
- In the chat with yourself, Messages still shows each message twice. The name only makes your agent's half easy to read.
- Text Replies then reads the messages on the agent's Apple ID.
- Nobody has tried it yet on a real Mac signed into a second Apple ID.

Notifications on Archie Mobile#
Turn on notifications in Archie Mobile and your phone shows reminders, reports, new mail, and replies to what you sent from it, even with the app closed.
- Where it is
- In Archie Mobile, under Settings, Notifications.
- How to use it
- In Archie Mobile, open Settings.
- Under Notifications, turn them on, and allow them when your phone asks.
- From your phone
- On iPhone, from Archie Mobile 1.3 with Archie 0.3.9 on the computer; the Android download does not have it yet.
- Limits
- Your computer sends them, so it has to be on, awake and running Archie. Its window can be closed.
- Only the owner's phone gets them. A teammate's phone does not.
- On an agent with a chat app connected, a reply's notification comes about 15 seconds after your agent goes quiet.
- What each one says is locked on your computer and opened on your phone, so we, Apple and Google pass it along without reading it.
A phone message waits for a sleeping computer#
A message sent from Archie Mobile while your computer sleeps waits and says so, and your agent answers it when the computer wakes, knowing it was sent earlier.
- Where it is
- In Archie Mobile, on the waiting message.
- How to use it
- To take back a waiting message, press Remove it.
- From your phone
- In Archie Mobile on iPhone and Android.
- Limits
- Your agent answers only once the computer running Archie is on and Archie is open.
- Remove it works only if the computer has not picked the message up yet.
- Nobody has yet tried it on a real phone against a sleeping computer.
Run a routine or tune a skill from your phone#
From Archie Mobile you can run a routine now, pick a skill's Response quality, and switch a skill's scheduled messages off and on.
- Where it is
- In Archie Mobile, on a skill's or routine's row, which opens in place.
- How to use it
- In Archie Mobile, open your agent's skills or routines.
- Press a row to open it, then press Run now or change a setting.
- From your phone
- In Archie Mobile on iPhone and Android.
- Limits
- The computer running Archie does the work, so it has to be on, awake and running Archie.
- Connecting an account for a skill still happens at the computer.
- Nobody has watched it on a real phone yet.
Short answers on your phone#
Text your agent from your phone and it answers in the first line and keeps the reply short, with no headings.
- Where it is
- Messages you type in Archie Mobile or a chat app, and on a teammate's phone.
- From your phone
- It works for messages from Archie Mobile, a teammate's phone, or a chat app.
- Limits
- It is what your agent is told. Nothing cuts a reply short.
- Typed messages only. A press, a routine or a watch is answered as before, and so is a message typed at the computer.
- A chat app counts as a phone, because Archie cannot tell where it is being read.
