Routines: running skills on a schedule

Run a skill on a schedule, so the answer arrives without you asking.

This guide is also in Archie: press Resources in the sidebar, then Guides. Where a step says this computer, it means the computer running Archie.

A routine asks your agent for you and messages you the answer, like a morning briefing.

What a routine is made of#

One or more of your skills, plus a Message sent to your agent each time. Schedules: Daily, On certain days, Monthly, Every few minutes, or Before each meeting once a calendar is connected.

Skills with a routine attached show a switch: “Messages you on a schedule” or “Not messaging you on a schedule”.

If a routine goes wrong#

  • Results arrive in the wrong chat: they go to the first chat that ever messaged your agent, usually where you claimed it. Only switching chat app or pasting a new connection code moves them.
  • A routine only describes calendar changes, on purpose, since nobody is there to approve them. Ask in the chat instead and confirm there.

The one-week test#

After a week, name one thing you stopped checking yourself. If you can’t, turn on one routine and give it a few days.

A step that no longer matches your screen? The other company may have changed its site since we last checked. Tell us which step and we will fix the guide in Archie and here.
