Features

Websites and apps

Your agent using a website or a Mac app for you, maps, and prices.

On this page

Your agent uses websites#

With no direct connection, your agent can use a website itself in a browser window on your computer: it reads, clicks and types, and you can watch.

  • On your computer
  • From your phone
  • Since 0.1.3
Where it is
On the Connections tab, under Computer control. Switch on Let this agent click and type for you, then add a site.
How to use it
  1. On the Connections tab, open Computer control.
  2. Switch on Let this agent click and type for you.
  3. Press + Add a website (+ Add a website or app on a Mac) and type the site's address.
  4. Sign in yourself in the window that opens, then close it.
  5. Ask your agent for the errand in the chat.
From your phone
Tap Press it for me from Archie Mobile or your chat app, and Archie Mobile can switch Computer control, buying, and each site on or off. Signing in to a site happens at your computer.
Limits
  • It never types a password, a card you pay with or a sign-in code. Where one is asked for, it stops and hands you the window.
  • Before a press that sends, submits or finalizes something, it sends you the page. Tap Press it for me, or finish it yourself.
  • A purchase needs buying switched on, at a shop you picked, up to a limit you set. Moving money and signing a contract are always yours to press.
  • It is off until you switch it on. Sites under Blocked sites are never opened, and each job stops after the time you set.

Practice runs on a website#

Send your agent to look around a site before it does anything real there. It clicks through, finishes nothing, and notes how the site is laid out for next time.

  • On your computer
  • Since 0.3.0
Where it is
On the Connections tab, under Computer control, press Practice beside a site you added.
How to use it
  1. On the Connections tab, open Computer control.
  2. Press Practice beside a site you added.
  3. Or say yes when your agent offers a practice run.
Limits
  • It types only in the search box, stays on that one site, and finishes nothing.
  • A practice run does not make a site safe. Every stop still applies on the real errand afterward.
  • It uses your AI like any other job.
  • It starts only when you press Practice or say yes. Nothing explores on its own.

Flight check-in#

Your agent finds the flight in your confirmation email, checks in on the airline's site the day before, takes a free seat, and sends you the boarding pass.

  • On your computer
  • Since 0.3.0
Where it is
Add Flight Check-In from the Marketplace. It works through Computer control, on the Connections tab.
How to use it
  1. Add Flight Check-In from the Marketplace.
  2. Switch on Computer control on the Connections tab.
  3. Connect the mailbox your flight confirmations arrive in.
Limits
  • It buys nothing: not a seat, a bag or priority boarding. If check-in cannot finish without paying, it stops and tells you what is asked for.
  • It checks in only. It does not book, change or cancel a flight.
  • Where an airline wants an account sign-in or sends a code, it hands you the window.

Your agent uses apps on a Mac#

On a Mac, your agent can use the apps you allow, such as Numbers or Preview, without moving your pointer. If you start using that app, it waits for you.

  • On your computer
  • From your phone
  • Since 0.3.4
Where it is
On the Connections tab, under Computer control, press + Add a website or app and type the app's name.
How to use it
  1. On the Connections tab, open Computer control and switch on Let this agent click and type for you.
  2. Press + Add a website or app and type the app's name.
  3. When macOS asks, allow Archie in System Settings. The panel's Open System Settings button takes you there.
  4. Ask your agent for the job in the chat.
From your phone
Archie Mobile can switch Computer control and each app on or off. The macOS permission is given at the Mac.
Limits
  • Mac only. On Windows, Computer control covers websites.
  • It never uses Terminal, password keepers, System Settings, Mail, Messages, Calendar, or your web browsers, whatever you allow.
  • It never types a password or a card you pay with, and anything it could not undo waits for you.
  • An app that does not describe its window cannot be used yet, and one that draws its own boxes may not take typing. Your agent says so and asks you.

Finding places on the map#

Ask for somewhere to eat near the office open at eight, and your agent looks it up on the map: name, street, distance, phone number and hours.

  • On your computer
  • From your phone
  • Since 0.3.0
Where it is
It uses TomTom, on the Connections tab under Apps, the same connection that works out when to leave for a drive.
How to use it
  1. Connect TomTom on the Connections tab, under Apps. Its key is free and needs no card.
  2. Ask your agent for a place near somewhere.
From your phone
Ask the same way from Archie Mobile or a chat app.
Limits
  • The map has no ratings or prices, so your agent does not say what is good or cheap.
  • Hours come from the map, which is sometimes out of date. Every reply has the phone number so you can check.
  • Without the TomTom connection your agent does not offer it.

Prices at Shopify stores#

Ask Price Watch to check your prices, and your agent looks up what Shopify stores charge right now, whether it is in stock, and a link to that store's checkout.

  • On your computer
  • Not in Archie for Teams
  • Since 0.3.1
Where it is
Add Price Watch from the Marketplace.
How to use it
  1. Add Price Watch from the Marketplace.
  2. Ask it to check your prices.
Limits
  • Amazon, Walmart and the other big marketplaces are not Shopify stores, so for those it searches the web.
  • It only reads. An order is placed on the store's own page, under the Buying switch.
  • A price is what the store showed at that moment.
