Connecting your Mistral account

Paste a Mistral API key into Archie: about 10 minutes and a card.

Mistral is based in France, so your agent's messages stay with a company under EU rules.

Before you start#

  • A Mistral account. Sign up with email, Google, or Microsoft.
  • A card for pay-as-you-go billing. Any free tier has tight limits.
  • Somewhere safe for the key.

  1. Open Mistral's console on this computer, and sign in or sign up.

    The key is shown only once, so one made on a phone has to be mailed to yourself.

  2. Pick a plan under Billing and add a card.

  3. Create an API key under API Keys and give it a name.

  4. Copy all of the key. It has no telltale prefix.

  5. Paste it in the box above.

You'll know it worked when#

Within seconds, the AI account row reads "✓ Mistral" in green.

If something goes wrong#

  • Refused right away: copy the whole key again. With no prefix to check, a missing character reads as a wrong key.
  • Saved, but no answers: billing isn't active, or the free tier's limits are in the way. Check the plan under Billing in the console.
  • Worked, then went quiet: check your usage against the plan's limits in the console.
