Removing an add-on, agent, or everything

What removing an add-on, deleting an agent, or resetting Archie takes with it.

This guide is also in Archie: press Resources in the sidebar, then Guides. Where a step says this computer, it means the computer running Archie.

On this page

Removing an add-on#

On the agent's page, open the add-on's tab, open its row, and press Remove. It stays in the Marketplace, but what it knew goes, such as a skill's lists and your answers in its panel.

Pausing a routine instead#

To just stop the messages, switch the routine off on the agent's Routines tab, or say "pause the morning brief" in the chat. It keeps its schedule.

Deleting one agent#

  1. Open the agent, then its Setup tab.
  2. In the list on the left, click Delete, the last row.
  3. Type the agent's name exactly as shown, then press Delete agent.

This deletes its conversation, everything it remembered about you, its lists, uploaded files, and schedules. Your other agents and your account are untouched.

Erasing everything on this computer#

On the Account page, under Resetting Archie, press Reset Archie, type the word reset, then press Erase and restart. It deletes every agent, signs you out, and removes every saved key and password, including those in the Keychain on a Mac or Credential Manager on Windows. Open Archie at login and waking this computer for routines stay as they were.

  • Your mail and calendar events stay in your accounts.
  • If you switched crash reporting off, it stays off.
  • The speech and video tools (about 150 MB) stay, so no new download. They say nothing about you.
