What your agent remembers and forgets

Memory, on your agent’s Knowledge tab, lists every note it has kept, in plain sentences, with nothing hidden behind it.

Notes your agent writes itself#

Your agent can write itself a one-line note mid-conversation, and keeps up to three things from old messages as they drop off. It’s told to save facts about you and how you like things done, decisions made, questions settled, and mistakes not to repeat.

That’s a judgment call, so it may keep something throwaway or miss something obvious. Every note is visible and can be deleted.

Telling your agent to remember#

Say it in the chat, like “Remember that I don’t work Fridays.” The note is written right away and carried into every later conversation.

What your agent forgets#

Memory stays about a page long, because all of it is handed to your agent with every message. Past that, your agent rewrites it shorter, dropping repeats and anything out of date.

To keep replies quick, your agent reads only the last 20 messages of each conversation, counting both sides. Older ones stay on screen for you, and anything worth a note survives as one.

Removing a note#

1. Open your agent’s Knowledge tab, then Memory.
2. Hover a note and press the ✕ at the end of the line.
3. Or press Clear all to wipe every note. That can’t be undone.

Removing one note takes effect on the next message. Clearing everything restarts your agent.

What memory survives#

• Restarting your agent or your computer: memory is a file kept with your agent.
• Changing personality: only the voice changes.
• Switching chat app.
• Deleting the agent is the one thing that erases its memory.

Memory belongs to one agent; a second agent starts with none of it. On an agent shared with other people, everyone writes into the same notes, so what one person tells it to remember, the others benefit from, and see.
