Features
Memory and knowledge
What your agent remembers, what you teach it, and how to change either.
On this page
Knowledge as folders#
The Knowledge tab opens like folders: Documents your agent reads, Lists it keeps up to date, Memory, and How you write.
- Where it is
- On the agent's Knowledge tab.
- From your phone
- Archie Mobile groups documents by the same folders.
- Limits
- Documents are files your agent reads and never changes.
Your agent's first questions#
When you first open Archie, your agent asks a few questions about your work, starting with the first thing you say, so it can help you better.
- Where it is
- On the first run, in the agent's chat: the card Let me tell you what I do (on Archie for Teams, Let me tell you about the business and my team), and Stop the questions.
- How to use it
- Press Let me tell you what I do, or just type.
- Answer its questions. If your first message asks for something, your agent does that first.
- Press Stop the questions to end them early.
- From your phone
- The first run happens on the computer. On a chat app, the questions start when you claim your agent.
- Limits
- Whether your first message asks for something is the AI's judgment, so it can miss. Asking again gets it done.
- Your answers go to your AI company like any message.
- It stops after 12 messages, a second job, a question of yours, or Stop the questions, and keeps what was said by then.
- On the free tier its own turns are not counted, but a job asked for in your first message is one of the day's 20.
What your agent keeps#
At the top of an agent's Knowledge tab, Archie counts its lists, documents, and things it remembers about you, and shows the latest list changes with Undo.
- Where it is
- At the top of the agent's Knowledge tab, headed with the agent's name, such as What Ember keeps.
- How to use it
- Open the agent's Knowledge tab.
- Under Saved lately, press Open or Undo beside a change.
- From your phone
- Archie Mobile's Documents screen opens with the same three counts, without Saved lately.
- Limits
- Saved lately shows list changes only: the five newest not yet taken back.
- Entries added from a card or an import are not in it. Undo those on the Jobs tab.
- Undo after forgetting a memory line puts it back as a new line, dated this month.
What your agent remembers about you#
Your agent keeps a short list of what it has learned about you. You can read every line, add one, change one, or delete one.
- Where it is
- On your agent's Knowledge tab, under Memory. Each line has a pencil, Change this, and a cross, Forget this, and Clear all is at the bottom.
- How to use it
- Open your agent's Knowledge tab and choose Memory.
- Press the pencil beside a line to change it, or the cross to forget it.
- Type in the box to add a line yourself.
- From your phone
- On the owner's phone, Archie Mobile shows the same Memory under More, then Documents, while the computer running Archie is on.
- Limits
- It carries only what has come up lately. Older lines go to a file it looks back at when your words match one.
- The look back is a match on words, with no AI call of its own.
- What it remembers goes to your AI company with your messages.
- The file is on your computer, and Otian AI cannot see it.
Bring in what ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini knows about you#
Archie gives you one sentence to send ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. Paste its answer back, tick the lines to keep, and your agent remembers them.
- Where it is
- On your agent's Knowledge tab, under Memory, press Bring in what it knows about you. In Archie, the first setup screen also has a card, Bring in what ChatGPT knows.
- How to use it
- On your agent's Knowledge tab, under Memory, press Bring in what it knows about you.
- Copy the sentence Archie gives you and send it to ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini.
- Paste its answer back and press Show me the lines.
- Tick the lines to keep and press Remember these.
- From your phone
- On the owner's phone, Archie Mobile has the same screen under More, then Documents, then Memory, while the computer running Archie is on.
- Limits
- Archie never talks to ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. It reads the text you paste, once.
- About 25 to 30 short facts fit in what it carries. The rest goes to older memory, and the screen shows which before you press.
- A line with a password, a card number, or a Social Security or account number is never kept. An address or a health detail comes over if you tick it.
- Kept lines go to your AI company with your messages, as everything in memory does.
Your small files, checked for what you ask#
When you ask about something, Archie looks through your small files, like a price sheet or a page of notes, for lines that mention it, and hands them to your agent before it answers. No extra AI call is made.
- Where it is
- Nothing to switch on. It reads the files on your agent's Knowledge tab.
- From your phone
- It works on messages from your phone too, because the files are read on the computer.
- Limits
- Only small files, about 24 KB of text or less and the 20 newest, and at most three lines a message. A longer document is your agent's to open.
- It compares words, so a line worded differently from your question is missed.
- What it finds goes to your AI company with your message, like everything else in it.
- Your agent is told to open the file before saying something is not in it, and it can still skip that.
