Connect your AI account
Connecting another provider
Connect an AI provider that isn't listed, using the address, model name and key from its own docs.
This guide is also in Archie: press Resources in the sidebar, then Guides. Where a step says this computer, it means the computer running Archie.
This row works for a provider that takes requests the way OpenAI does; their docs will say "OpenAI-compatible" if so. Your key sits in your computer's own password vault, and can only ever be sent to the address you put in.
Example: Venice's address is https://api.venice.ai/api/v1, its keys are in the API settings on its site, and the model name is any from its model list, copied exactly.
Before you start#
- An account with the provider, with billing set up if they need it.
- Their docs open, usually a page called API, Developers, or Quickstart.
- About 10 minutes.
-
Open their docs on this computer, find the API address, and copy it into the Address box above, exactly as written.
It usually starts with https:// and ends with /v1. If their example ends in /chat/completions, leave that part off; Archie adds it.
-
Find the model you want and copy its exact name into the Model box.
Use the technical id from their code examples, not the marketing name.
-
Make an API key on their site, usually under API Keys, and give it a name.
My Agent -
Copy the key. Many providers show it only once.
-
Paste it in the key box above.
You'll know it worked when#
Archie tests the key at that address before saving anything, so a typo in any of the three boxes shows up right here.
If something goes wrong#
- Refused right away: check the address first. It must be the API address from the docs, including the version part (usually /v1), not the provider's homepage.
- The key works but replies mention the model: copy the model name again, with every dash and dot.
- Saved, but no answers: the account may have no credit, which Archie can't check. Add credit on their site.
A step that no longer matches your screen? The other company may have changed its site since we last checked. Tell us which step and we will fix the guide in Archie and here.
